Hi! My name is Eric Schmalz. I am your community manager. In a nutshell, I exist to help you! If you have any questions about how to do research, if you are curious about the project in general, or if you want to get even more involved, I’m your go-to person. Send me a tweet @Eric_USHMM, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at 202-382-0211.
To give you a little bit of background about myself, I graduated college with a history degree and graduate school with a Master of Teaching in Secondary Social Studies. I taught social studies for three years at a public high school. While I love teaching in the classroom, I found I love the museum world even more. I joined the staff at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum because I am passionate about social justice, learning and teaching history, and building community.
In my spare time, I love to play violin, dance, stargaze, watch the Simpsons, and root for the Green Bay Packers. I am very excited to partner with you to help the Holocaust Museum discover what Americans knew about and how they responded to the Holocaust.
