Article Text
Berlin, April 1—(US)—A special detective squad from the office of Captain Herman Goering, Prussian Minister of Interior and a member of the Hitler Cabinet, today confiscated a bank account and securities belonging to Professor Albert Einstein, noted physicist.

The bank account amounted to $1,250 and the securities had a value of more than $6,000.

The Prussian Academy of Sciences announced a letter of resignation had been received from Einstein, who said he would be unable to serve the Prussian state under the present Government.

The academy said it had no reason to regret Einstein's resignation, and expressed astonishment at the scientist's participation in anti-German propaganda abroad.

Einstein, also resigned his co-presidency of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Physics.

The Academy of Sciences said Einstein was a Swiss citizen until 1913, when he obtained Prussian citizenship also by election to the Prussian academy. The statement said Einstein's political activities were opposed to the traditions of the academy.
