WASHINGTON, March 17 — (U.P.) Superintendent Frank W. Ballou of the District of Columbia school system Friday night denied the use of a high school auditorium Marian Anderson, negro contralto, for a concert Easter Sunday.

Ballou's action climaxed a fight during which the school board first denied permission to the noted singer.[sic] and then reversed itself when thousands of protests were made.
