- NEW YORK, June 21 (AP)—Some of Europe's children seeking safety from bombs may find homes in the United States through the efforts of a U. S. committee for the care of European children.
With Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt as temporary chairman, the new agency was organized yesterday to cooperate with Canada in finding havens for child refugees.
Plans will be developed in this country to care for such children as may qualify to enter under limitations prescribed by law. Funds raised would be used to guarantee to the State Department the refugees' welfare.
Thirty-two child and social welfare groups were represented at the organizing conference. - History Unfolded Contributor
